The incident began around 7:46 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, when a 911 call was received by the Danbury Fire Department that a truck was on fire in the load dock area of Omaha Beef on Maple Avenue in Danbury, said James Gagliardo, communications director.
As firefighters were responding, Omaha Beef manager Jason Street, who is also the Assistant Fire Chief of the Northville Fire Department, sprang into action.
Seeing the truck on fire and in an enclosed loading dock, Street jumped in the company's forklift, lifted the rear of the burning truck up, and dragged it out of the building into the roadway.
Danbury Fire Department units arrived quickly and extinguished the fire.
Danbury Fire Marshal’s Office was on scene and is investigating the cause and origin, and the Danbury Police Department assisted with traffic control and towing the vehicle away.
There were no injuries.
"Thank you for the assistance Chief Street," said Gagliardo.
